E-POQUE

SOLO EXHIBITION for OCTOBER 2019
by Osvaldo Napoli
Exhibition Dates: October 3 to October 26 2019
My inspiration for most of my work is people and society as a whole. This body of work highlights social trends in the digital age and its side effects, and also explores the co-existence between humanity and technology which is such an immense part of our lives. In hindsight it begs the question: where will we find ourselves in the future, considering the velocity in which we are evolving alongside it. I can’t help wondering what’s in store for humanity and the world in these exciting times E-poque.

Façade

SOLO EXHIBITION for OCTOBER 2019
by Osvaldo Napoli
Exhibition Dates: October 4 to October 27 2018
The inspiration behind all of my work is people in general and the intricacies of social behaviour. I am fascinated by the complexity of the human mind and the mysteries about how we all perceive reality. I’m particularly interested in the superficialities that can be presented and at the same time considering what else might be there beyond appearances. I use art as a platform to communicate with the world and examine the humanity within us.

FAÇADE – Galerie Vincent d’Indy

Multidisciplinary artist Osvaldo Napoli, trained at the Ontario College of Art and Design, presents us with his unvarnished perception of today’s world. His thinking unfolds through drawing, painting, and sculpture to highlight the superficiality of the world around us, while suggesting what lies beneath appearances.
The recurring presence of masks in the works in the exhibition Façade evokes the identity we construct to protect ourselves, to hide our vulnerabilities or, sometimes, to better conform to social expectations. Osvaldo Napoli attempts to capture the emotions and states of mind that emerge when the mask falls, when the soul is freed and revealed. His works invite us to look beyond façades, to find beauty and truth in the authenticity of our encounters with ourselves and with others.
In addition to his interest in social dynamics, Osvaldo Napoli is particularly fascinated by the three-dimensional universe and human forms. Since childhood, art has been an instinctive and natural means of expression for him. He remembers that at a very young age, he would create sculptures in the sand, adding various found materials. Today, his inspiration comes from observing human behavior, its subtleties, our differences, but also our profound similarities. The complexity of the mind and the mysteries that shape our perception of reality will always fill him with wonder.
